Carlisle Burch

b. 1993 Victorville, California

works and lives in Phoenix, Arizona

—————

Carlisle Burch’s approach to illustrating intentionally explores the dichotomy that defined much of her childhood. Characters and scenes evolve from the juxtaposition of her Mojave Desert home and her
fascination with European high society as well as 20th century editorial illustration. Her use of color and line creates a world where cowboys, rattlesnakes, and sandstorms merge with the idealistic and refined. Carlisle’s illustrations are equally light-hearted while transporting us into her world of weathered
nostalgia.
